You will follow me without fear...meet Dr Clare Wyatt and Dr Laurience... This British Film was directed by Robert Stevenson https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLwDX-_T-UvT8o_tMPGmoacrCuojsfzImQ and stars Anna Lee, his wife at the time, John Loder, and Frank Cellier, who all made https://youtu.be/bJauKRIP9Qc together a year later, along with the man who needs no introduction, Boris Karloff, giving a captivating performance. It's a science fiction horror drama that has appreciated in value over the years, due in part to its well-paced, enduring story, smart, entertaining script, and surprisingly relevant social commentary – Your mind is just as twisted as your body, you told the newspapers all this? » I don't mind dying, but to be accused of journalism!...📣 The Man Who Changed His Mind was produced by Gainsborough Pictures in England and released as The Man Who Lived Again in the US. In later years, it was reissued under the pulp titles Dr. Maniac, Doctor Maniac Who Lived Again, and The Brainsnatcher. It is brought to us courtesy of ITV. Insights: Production The film was an early production effort from Ted Black and was filmed at Islington Studios in London, often known as Gainsborough Studios. They were British film studios located on the south bank of the Regent's Canal, in Poole Street, Hoxton, in the former Metropolitan Borough of Shoreditch, London, between 1919 and 1949. Today, a block of flats stands where the studios used to be, and its courtyard features a large sculpture of Alfred Hitchcock's head. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islington_Studios Notes At the time this film was made, Anna Lee (Dr. Clare Wyatt) was the wife of its director, Robert Stevenson. They were married for more than nine years, from December 6, 1934, until March 9, 1944. It was Boris Karloff's third British feature, following The Ghoul 1933 and Juggernaut 1936, and was filmed from March 3 to April 1936. IMDB Review ⭐8/10 Made in 1936, and Movies still copy its Script - siderite Oct 16, 2012 It's difficult to say that a movie from the 30s is filled with clichés, because at the time they weren't so. The mad scientist, the arrogant businessman, the cocky boyfriend and the kind and clever woman, they are all here and doing the same things they do in today's movies. Perhaps at that time they were book stereotypes... How we can't improve on the story of films after 80 years is a testament to our complacency as humans. Perhaps this is why mad scientists appear; they are only men of science at the beginning, but the world drives them mad. There is such a scene in the movie, and one of the few in the genre that tries to explain the desperation that takes one to do insane things. In this time, the madness of the scientist is a given, and nobody cares why he does it, only that he dies in an explosion, wild-eyed and screaming "Noo!". All in all, a classic of horror.
